Destination Weddings

I LOVE Cancun Weddings!

It was just over a year ago that I met up with Rachel, Justin, and their family and friends at the airport, ready to head to Mexico for their long-awaited destination wedding.

Mexico is my absolute favourite place in the world, and I could not have been more excited to be heading back! I left a piece of my heart there on my last trip. The people, the food, the ocean views… I could go on for hours!

Aside from a little hiccup at the beginning of the trip, it was just as perfect as I’d remembered it. (A sarcastic thank you to the man who stole my cell phone, and especially to whoever started hacking my email accounts. But a REAL thank you to the true gentleman who drove me to the closest town and translated for me while I tried to buy a new phone for the week!)

Rachel and Justin’s family and friends were so welcoming and it didn’t take long to feel like I was travelling with a whole group of people that I had known for years. Getting to know the guests for a few days before the wedding has to be one of my favourite things about Cancun weddings! (And makes it soooo much easier to remember everyone’s names! haha)

Rachel and Justin’s wedding was three years in the making, so when the day finally arrived, everyone was so relaxed and ready to enjoy themselves. There wasn’t a cloud in the sky, and being on the east coast of Mexico gave us the most picture-perfect soft glow of “golden hour” light from the start of their ceremony, right through until their reception. After some wedding party shenanigans, Rachel, Justin and I took a walk along the beach (and took some of my favourite beach photos ever) before their reception got underway.

It was a night full of hilarious speeches, smiles, laughter, and a whole lot of dancing! But the rest? I think there is a less-heard-of saying, “What happens at the destination wedding reception, says at the destination wedding reception.” ;)

These are great wedding photos.  And nice that you got to go down south.
