Star Wars Themed Wedding | Kelly & Chris

It was the best surprise ever when Kelly and Chris showed up to their engagement session with light sabres to incorporate into the shoot! I was even more excited when they said they wanted to incorporate them into their wedding day photos, too. Nothing beats adding in personal touches that are special to my clients! They honestly just make for the best photos :)

We were battling rain all morning on the day of Kelly and Chris’ wedding. With all of our photos planned for outdoor locations in downtown London, I was seriously holding onto hope that things would shift in time to keep things as scheduled! We’re always ready to roll with the punches of a wedding day, but it doesn’t hurt to hope that doesn’t need to happen :) Mother Nature finally listened, and just as we were wrapping up family photos inside the gorgeous little chapel, St. Luke’s in the Garden, where their ceremony was held, the sun broke through the clouds and we were able to take advantage of their beautiful gardens for some portraits before we headed downtown to have a little fun with some wedding party photos!

Kelly and Chris decided to keep it simple with their wedding party, and were joined by one of Kelly’s closest friends as her Maid of Honour, and Chris’ sister stood in for him as his Best Woman. We had such a great time doing their group portraits! We shared so many laughs and they seriously killed it. Just as the sun lowered in the sky, we squeezed in a few more portraits of the newlyweds, and the light made up for not being around all morning by giving us the most perfect late-summer glow to help wrap things up.

Their reception was at Bertoldi’s Trattoria. I had never been but had always wanted to try it out (I LOVE Italian food!). It was a great venue for their intimate reception, which was a perfectly informal gathering of the couple’s closest friends and family. The room was filled with personal touches, from centrepieces made out of Kelly’s Funko Pop figure collection to the most amazing cake decorated with a night sky and more Funko Pop characters to match their purple and blue theme. We couldn’t let the night end without going outside for what would become some of my favourite night photos of all time… And there was no better way to end their day than with a light sabre battle between the new husband and wife!

(And, in case you’re wondering, the food was to DIE for! Go grab yourself some dinner one day if you haven’t had a chance to try it out yet!)
