Carly, Iain and I clicked from the moment we met at their consultation. I could tell right away that these two were going to be so much fun to work with, and that they were wanting to enjoy the whole process leading up to their wedding.
They are both from the Niagara area and moved here years ago when Iain found out that he had just landed his dream career as a police officer just a few months into their relationship. Without hesitation, Carly started looking for a new place for them to live, and they packed up to start a new life together. Everyone has a “that’s when I knew” moment, and for Iain, this was it. Then, one night during their ball hockey game, Iain got down on one knee and asked Carly to marry him!
When the wedding day came, we were all nervously watching the weather forecast. It was an outdoor ceremony and the weather forecast was all but guaranteeing that it was going to rain. But the clouds cleared and the sun came out just as the ceremony started, and we had nothing but blue skies and a gorgeous view of Lake Ontario as the backdrop.
Their wedding day was filled with inside jokes and personal touches. Carly, as I was told by her friends and family, is always running late, so she wrote “See you at 3:07!” inside the card she gave to Iain (Iain checked his watch, and the ceremony started at exactly 3:07pm!). We also went to Carly’s aunt’s house across the street from the ceremony venue. We re-created a photo that was taken of her parents on their wedding day, and then headed to Club Castropignano, the same reception venue that her parents had used as well!
To make the weekend even better, my assistant and I brought our Matt’s along (my husband and her boyfriend have the same name… I call them Matt Squared.) and we took the Sunday off to visit Niagara Falls. We walked behind the falls, and along the strip, with a pit stop at one of the many haunted houses. Well, most of us went into the haunted house…. I won’t name any names… But it wasn’t Saraya or me who left before it started! ;)
I love London weddings, but I wish every wedding could end with a trip away!
