Some of my favourite blog posts by other photographers are their ‘end of the year – behind the scenes’ posts. It’s always a good laugh, but the posts are always so inspiring because I love seeing how other people do things to get the amazing shots I see online. So, this past week, while I was going through my 2017 catalogue to pull out some of my favourites for my ‘best of’ posts (coming later this week!), I couldn’t resist putting together some of my favourite BTS moments, too :)
Starting with this gem – that time I was an accidental bridesmaid in Mexico…
Details, details, details. So much work gets put into them, so it’s important to make sure they’re looking perfect in photos!
Step one – capture the most important part of the day – the ceremony! Step two – wedding party shenanigans :)
The number one thing I hear from almost every couple I work with, is “we’ve never had our photo taken before, so we have no idea what we’re doing!” And I always respond with news to put their minds at ease – I come prepared with all the poses, tips, and tricks we’ll need!
What would a “behind the scenes” post be without some hilariously unflattering photos of myself?!
I swear, I need maximum comfort to get that lower angle shot ;)
Lurking in bushes, something I do really well on a wedding day…
Having some Halloween fun while we were testing lighting for a night photo! Emily (left) looks cute and adorable. I, on the other hand, wanted to jump, but tripped over my own feet and the outcome is the photo on the right. I’m not nearly as majestic as the unicorn I was dressed up as!
And last but not least – this post wouldn’t have been possible without Emily, one of my assistant shooters! Sorting through thousands of wedding photos is so much more bearable when I come across hilarious shots like these ones. She has been a great addition to the Life is Beautiful Photography team and has magic-like disappearing skills to hide in a shot!
