The strangest part about blogging my work has to be the timeline that it falls along. Here we are, having just celebrated Canada Day weekend in real-life, but in the blog world, today we’re throwing it all the way back to Halloween! (It’s my favourite “holiday” of the year so I don’t mind one bit :))
Ann and Sam put together the most incredibly decorated Halloween wedding! Every little detail was so perfect. After finishing “getting ready” photos with Sam and his groomsmen, we headed over to meet the bridal party where we got started on a hilarious note – when I went to the wrong house, and after saying hello to their dog they asked me, “Are you looking for Ann?” Thankfully they were going to be guests at the wedding later that day and directed me to the house across the street! (Sorry again, neighbours! Thank you for being so welcoming of a stranger at your home!)
There were little touches of Batman placed throughout the whole day – Sam’s pocket watch, Ann’s garter, the cupcakes, and even a “bat signal” spotlight for their first dance! The bridal party were all wearing dresses custom made by Ann’s mom, the ring box was a little coffin, and Ann was even wearing the prettiest little diamond skull earrings ever! Then there was the reception decor… Just WOW. From creepy eyes lit up across the walls, skulls and super heroes for centre pieces, fake vampire teeth napkin holders, and a skeleton guarding the guest book – Ann and Sam thought of everything and it came together perfectly.
And then there was their “kissing game”. I’ve seen so many different ideas for kissing games throughout the years I’ve been working in weddings, and I have to say, games that involve guests getting up to sing can be very hit or miss. At Ann and Sam’s wedding? HIT! They asked their guests to come and lip sync a song in order to get them to kiss during the reception. SO many of their guests got up and grabbed the oversized pink plastic microphone and gave us some amazing performances. One, though, came up above the rest. In all my years of weddings, I don’t think I’ll ever forget the moment when one of the groomsmen got up and gave us the most incredibly hilarious performance of “Baby One More Time” I have ever seen. Even more fitting, was that the groomsmen were already wearing kilts, and he danced around the room channeling his inner Britney for the entire song! (Dave, you killed it!)
I couldn’t have asked for better clients or a more fun wedding to bring my 2016 wedding season to a close. Thank you both so much for having me!
